Central Coast's Story

Central Coast Assembly of God began as a Sunday School in 1931 in the Armory Building at the corner of Alder Street and Ninth Street. The first business meeting of the “Church of the Full Gospel,” as it was once known, was held in November 1932.

In 1936 the church was established with twenty charter members and became affiliated with the General Council of the Assemblies of God. In 1943 it was affiliated with the Oregon District of the Assemblies of God.

(Currently known as the Oregon Ministry Network).

The congregation then moved to a store building near the northeast corner of Highway 101 and Highway 20. Property was later purchased on Southwest Lee Street near Olive Street, where a small church building was built.

In 1964 property was purchased on 6th Street. Construction of the present church building was completed in 1966. Later, church offices and a garage were added.

For many years, our church was known as Newport Assembly of God. Then our name was changed to

Central Coast Assembly of God to represent the “reach” and “impact” of our church on the Oregon Coast.
